Jakub graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen of Charles University, specializing in general medicine. He gained professional competence in the field of psychiatry and completed the professional practice part of his medical training in psychoanalytical group therapy practice as well as a course in clinical hypnosis and acupuncture. He is a member of the Psychiatric Society and the Society for Addictive Diseases (SNN) under the Czech Medical Association of J.E. Purkyně (CzMA). For many years he worked in the non-profit sector as a psychiatrist, team leader or chief physician. For the last few years Jakub has been working at the VFN Clinic of Addictology and teaches clinical addictology at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. His whole career is committed to the treatment of drug users and he has devoted many years of psychotherapeutic work with these clients. For the last 15 years or so Jakub has focused primarily on pharmacotherapy. He is also interested in substitution treatment, including for methamphetamine.
