Ondřej Knybel studied Theoretical Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. He worked in the non-profit sector. But it was only after studying meditation in the North-Thai tradition of Ajahn Tong that he gained a profound perspective on his life, which in turn gave a solid framework to his meditation practice.
“I have always been fascinated by the complexity of life situations. Perhaps it was my personal experience, which showed the complexity of life often very strongly to me; that led me to stop using evasive manoeuvres as a solution to problems and to face them directly more often.”
Ondřej travelled his whole life, enjoyed rock climbing, and was captivated by yoga and traditional karate. He meditated under the guidance of Jonathan Preboy and Anna Scharfenberg at the Tisarana Centre in Prague, and the excellent results he experienced soon led him to believe that he should continue to develop and grow in his meditation practice.
Since the establishment of NEO Centrum, Ondřej has been serving as a substitute instructor in meditation lessons here; and since 2020, he has been teaching regularly at Residence Clinic 1.
He also helps with the operation of the Tisarana Vipassana Meditation Center in Prague and teaches Vipassana meditation at Residence Clinic 1.
